As a bilingual MC in Tokyo working with global brands, I’ve learned that what organizers are really booking isn’t “someone who speaks English and Japanese.” They’re booking protection against cultural missteps.

A bilingual MC is not simply translating words. The role is to guide the room, control pacing, read cultural cues, and make sure everyone feels included, without the event ever feeling “divided by language.” So who typically hires a bilingual MC like this?
